Brunner is well-known far beyond the German market as a design-oriented manufacturer of contract furniture –thanks to the successful work of numerous international partners. That’s why we have selected an array of interesting projects by our local partners abroad for the current issue of b.link. A case in point: Brunner has established itself as a strong partner for educational institutions in several European countries. You will also find reports on how global players in the IT industry and renowned architects like Zaha Hadid and Hans Chu count on the high-quality furniture made in Rheinau. We will take a look back at last year’s tradeshow and look forward to the upcoming “I Saloni” in Milan. We’ll present to you a new showroom in Switzerland that will presently move on from the current state of blueprint and mind vision to become splendid reality by the end of this year. And since international companies require flexible people working for them, we have also taken a closer look at a new species of expert: the modern nomad.

For more insights, please read the current issue of b.link. Have fun!

ALTENPFLEGE 2012 – Impressions from Our Tradeshow Stand
At the “ALTENPFLEGE 2012” in Hanover, the leading exhibition for the care sector, the Brunner tradeshow stand created a lot of attention. This year’s tradeshow appearance was designed by the renowned Ippolito Fleitz Group from Stuttgart. In the centre of attention: the new exclusive fabric collection that has come to life in cooperation with JAB Anstoetz and which could be looked at on the furniture presented and in the shape of textile panels floating in mid-air. This collection fulfils the high demands in terms of hygiene in the care sector, combining them with a special feel-well factor, thanks to the invigorating colours and patterns, and the very pleasantly soft touch of the fabrics. The visitors were able to ascertain this in many different ways.

Moreover, the tradeshow stand concentrated on dementia and on the question how interior decoration can support people suffering from dementia, their families and relatives, as well as the care staff. Here, Brunner is in constant dialogue with experts, and the result we found is this: an atmosphere of security, inviting communication, is just as important as an environment that stimulates all the senses – from vision and hearing to haptic and olfactory stimuli. In this context, a give-away that Brunner developed specifically for the “ALTENPFLEGE” tradeshow, was particularly well-received: a small cushion inside a pillowcase made from a new collection fabric, adorned with buttons. These buttons provide the haptic stimulus and invite to enter into a playful sensual experience, increasingly important for people suffering from dementia in their progressive loss of memory. Since people with dementia first lose their short-time memory while still being able to remember things from days long past, objects reminiscent of those days help create a familiar atmosphere, providing a feeling of comfort and security. They help keep the mind awake and present necessary reference points to one’s own history, without which one’s own identity risks getting progressively lost. The centre of the Brunner tradeshow stand gave room to such recollection pieces: a “wall of memories”, staging many exemplary items for reminiscence, artfully mounted in picture frames – from shellack records to photos, and tickets to a drive-in movie theatre.

Against the Flow

06. December 2011

New advertising campaign – with a fresh and bold headline campaign created by the renowned ad agency Jung von Matt, Brunner GmbH currently addresses their most important target audience: planners and architects. In early December 2011, the Rheinau object furniture specialist launched the new ad offensive in order to increase their brand awareness in this context – some 50 ad placements in selected architectural magazines are scheduled.

“When selecting furniture, why do you go with the flow rather than directing it?” is one of the slogans placed prominently on the page, coming across as both fresh and somewhat provocative. They allude to the fact that the industry knows certain models and design classics that some architects might use over and over again out of mere habit – and the headline campaign wants to encourage them to go against the flow: using object furniture by Brunner that is up-to-date both in terms of design and technology, and with which they can realize individual, appealing and attractive solutions in public spaces, concert and conference halls as well as in offices.

Press Event November 2011

12. December 2011

On 9 and 10 November 2011, we invited the German architectural trade press to participate in an “open dialogue” and exchange of ideas at our company headquarters in Rheinau. The general topic: “Design Quality Made in Rheinau”. Wolfgang C. R. Mezger was also present, our designer of many years who has taken a great active part in developing many Brunner series. The journalists – a total of 20 – were thrilled by the variety of our product portfolio and the high design and quality standards they could experience intensively in the different company areas, from the showroom to the production facility. Excursions to a Baden wine cellar and to the Frieder Burda museum in Baden-Baden with its current exhibition on Anselm Kiefer, completed the inspiring program.
