Individual Solution for Big Events

The conference rooms at the Palais des Congrès de Paris have been freshly equipped with 4,500 customised first place row lining chairs.

This collaboration was characterised by truly superior competence. Brunner showed all it was able to accomplish and has far exceeded our expectations.

The Palais des Congrès is located in the 17e arrondissement of Paris. The congress and event hall designed by Guillaume Gillet was opened back in 1974. In 1998, It received its characteristically oblique façade during a re-design by architect Christian de Portzamparc. With its approximately 19,000 m² of surfaces, the Palais offers ample room to host big cultural events, trade shows and conferences. The big amphitheatre alone offers some 3,700 seats. In addition, the Palais boasts three more auditoriums, four halls, 20 conference and 85 seminar rooms as well as a shopping mall.

The conference rooms were to be refurbished with 4,500 new chairs matching the existing interior decoration. The most important requirement stipulated by the operating company Viparis: even when placed in rows, the chairs were to make a delicate visual impression. They also should be vertically stackable without taking up much room, as well as allowing fast arrangement in rows and later removal. The chair of choice turned out to be Brunner stacking chair first place, which thanks to a reduced dimension between axes takes up particularly little space when placed in rows or stacked for storage.

The laminated beech wood seat shell was individually tailored – taking up the lines of a Brunner chair already used in other event venues operated by Viparis. The seat liner was shortened by 1cm at the front and received a particularly robust cover fabric. Thanks to the CMHR foam used, the seat liner is flame-retardant, thus perfectly answering the requirements of a modern event operation. By Viparis’ request, the frame was modified in such a way that the writing tablet (itself a customised development) can be attached to and taken off the frame effortlessly and without using any tools.
