Creating real valuesEnvironment & sustainability
As a family-owned company and one of the leading contract furniture manufacturers in Europe, we want to consciously shape the future for ourselves and future generations. Last but not least, since nature is an irreplaceable supplier of raw materials, Brunner also therefore accepts responsibility in terms of ecology – by handling limited resources carefully, with sustainable production processes in keeping with ecological guidelines and through an active environmental management system which is continually improved further.
With a clear view to the future.
Environmental protection with a system: From development and production through to recycling, we employ holistic strategies to minimise the negative impact on the environment as much as possible. Our production processes meet strict ecological guidelines in accordance with DIN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Sustainable actions for sustainable success: We use environmentally friendly and recyclable materials that can be separated and sorted to manufacture our furniture. We also use the latest technologies, such as UV-hardening water-based varnish for wooden components: Varnish waste is reduced to a minimum, excess varnish is collected and reintroduced into the loop after being reprocessed. Well-thought-out designs enable the reduction of adhesive joints. To finish high-quality metal surfaces, we use prime, resistant powder coatings that are free from volatile organic compounds, heavy metals and toxic substances such as mercury and cadmium.
Brunner has been PEFC-certified since 2019. PEFC-labelled wood and wood products can be shown to come from ecologically, economically and socially sustainable forestry. The use of indigenous wood from PEFC-certified forestry also conserves resources.
All of the plastics and cover fabrics used by Brunner comply with the limit values for PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). The majority of fabrics in the standard range also meet the ÖkoTex Standard 100. All leather covers are free from PCP (pentachlorophenol), PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) and chromium VI. The upholstery is achieved using cold and flexible polyurethane foams which are free from physical propellants such as HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) and formaldehyde.
DESIGN AND QUALITY IN HARMONY WITH THE ENVIRONMENT
"Made in Germany" quality
We also see the seal of origin, which stands for exceptional quality and a long product life worldwide, as an obligation: As a German family-run company we always give our best, even for the environment! We guarantee well-thought-out designs and high-quality workmanship – also and especially from an ecological aspect – among other things, thanks to our production processes certified in accordance with international environment management standard ISO 14001. In addition, many of our suppliers can also produce an ISO 9001 certificate, a supplier audit.
Consciously shaping design
A timeless piece of furniture captivates through more than "just" its appealing appearance, excellent comfort and first-class handling. Their inner properties also make our products winners: Their moulded parts and components can be repaired or replaced easily if necessary – this ensures an above-average lifespan of up to 20 years and therefore top marks in terms of sustainability.
Other issues that are close to our hearts
Environmentally responsible behaviour
Good is not good enough. We constantly strive to improve our ecological product life cycle even further and set ourselves increasingly ambitious targets. We continually search for new solutions to reduce emissions, waste and, in particular, resource consumption.
Environmentally responsible production
In nature, one synthesises seamlessly with the other – a perfect example of modern manufacturing processes in which environmental protection starts from the design itself. Each and every product is designed with the careful use of resources in mind and, wherever possible, uses environmentally friendly materials and components.
Transport & packaging
We pack as securely as necessary and as sparingly as possible. Our overpacks can be reused multiple times. Unnecessary travel is avoided through the use of lorries that are as fully loaded as possible. The preferential selection of certified local suppliers also helps avoid lengthy transport routes even during production.
Individual components can be separated, sorted and disposed of. In addition to metal components, it is also possible to melt down and reuse marked thermoplastic parts. An on-site raw material compressor makes the transportation of residues, such as paper and cardboard, into the recycling loop easier.
Energy and water use
Excellent insulation. The latest building services technology. A photovoltaic system on the roof of our production facility. We do a lot to achieve a balance – and continue to work on improving even more, e.g. through consciously handling resources like water and gas responsibly.
Everything we do leaves behind an ecological footprint. That is why we have continually been committed for over three decades now to working and manufacturing in ways that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
