A-Chair Unlimited

One chair. Limitless possibilities. This is the improvement to the popular Brunner A-chair!

The A-chair, which has won multiple awards in the past, has been overhauled by jehs+laub. In search of the perfect stacking chair, Brunner’s long-standing creative partner has focused on elaborate details which make all the difference.

Improved design

Timeless elegance is combined with impressive functionality and a clean design – including the improved armrest which is available as an optional extra. Integrated directly into the frame and made from a single piece of plastic, it creates the impression that the chair has been cast in one piece. Designer Jürgen Laub says: “We cut the A-chair out of paper. In one piece. And then folded it. That’s when we knew: it was incredibly stackable and perfect for linking into rows. It is minimalistic and sporting a new look.” Markus Jehs is also impressed: “To begin with, the A-chair was a product – by the end, it was a modular system that can be used flexibly in all architectural areas.”

One chair for everything and everyone

On its own or in a group, the A-chair can be flexibly adapted to the most varied of needs thanks to its modular design. Well-thought-out from top to bottom, it offers numerous possible configurations, starting with its freely combinable shells and frames available in many attractive colours and materials – complete with upholstery for added comfort if required.

“When placed in a huge room, you don’t get the impression there are thousands of chairs. That is because the individual chairs merge with one another,” says Markus Jehs. Its virtually invisible row linking device and the optional numera plus electronic seat numbering make the A-chair impressive when neatly arranged in identical rows, for example for events. At the end, it can be easily stacked up to 15 chars high – quite literally a real space-saving miracle!

This and other new features have turned the versatile classic into a contemporary all-rounder for the 21st century.
