We were won over by Brunner's functionality, various design possibilities and design language that beautifully complements our interior design.

Since 1977, the company headquarters of Stadtwerke Karlsruhe has been located in Daxlanderstrasse in Karlsruhe. The four-storey building with a foyer and casino along with three open-plan office floors provides space for 550 employees. In 2013, Stuttgart-based architect firm Scope was commissioned to develop a new interior and workplace concept in an effort to improve the energy efficiency of the building. In addition, the four-storey building was to be extended to include a roof construction with a conference and dining room.

A key feature of the new interior design is the vastly improved layout of the open-plan offices. Partially transparent room-in-room structures now divide the floors into different zones and guide the flow of people. Despite now being divided into smaller sections, the open-plan offices still feel open and spacious. The variety of areas allows for a sophisticated space where each team has areas of recreation in the immediate vicinity of the workplace that foster both constructive dialogue and concentrated work.

The diversity of the space on offer is also reflected in the selected Brunner furniture. Ten different ranges have been positioned in the different areas of the building – from ray cantilever chairs in the foyer to various crona upholstered easy chairs in the open-plan office, through to fina soft conference chairs in the new attic space. The flexible banc lounge system has also created meeting spaces and islands of recreation. All Brunner ranges used have an impressive functionality and clear design language. The various design options create a harmonious yet exciting overall impression.
