Perfect Combination of Living and Care

In the senior citizen centre of the Elisabethenstift, Brunner furniture developed for the care sector create a cosy atmosphere.

Our task was to plan a home for the elderly – what we have created is a true home in the best sense of the word.

Christoph Rhein, Project Lead temak GmbH, Trier

The Agaplesion Elisabethenstift is the second- largest hospital in Darmstadt. Over the course of its history, the building as well as the service portfolio have been continually enlarged. Now the campus-like premises were to be complemented by a senior citizen centre. A hospice, a walk-in therapeutic centre and a geriatric day clinic were also part of the specification sheet for temak GmbH (Trier). This company was entrusted with planning and controlling the project in 2007. The goal was to create a centre for the elderly that thanks to its high-quality furnishings comes across as comfortable and inviting – like a real home, not a medical facility. The expectations in this regard have been more than fulfilled – thanks to furniture made by Brunner, specifically developed for the care sector, which perfectly fulfils the combined requirements in terms of handling, comfort and cosiness.

The rooms have been equipped with tables of the buena nova series that easily accommodate wheelchairs plus matching armchairs featuring knob-armrests and handle bar. Seats and backs of these solid wood armchairs are comfortably upholstered; the covers are easy to detach and clean. On each floor, lounges equipped with high-quality, upholstered easy chairs and two- seater benches from the taceo series are inviting residents and visitors to take a seat and socialise. The in-house cafeteria has been equipped with verona stacking chairs and we_meet centre- column tables. Another part of this far-reaching project was the renovation of the old collegiate church and the corresponding hall. Both church and hall were supposed to come across as friendly and warm. That’s why stacking chair linos with its many variant options was the chair of choice, featuring a fully upholstered seat and back. The dominant cover fabric colours are merlot and lilac, with vanilla adding light accents. All this combines to creating a homelike and inviting atmosphere.
