Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (ukb), rehabilitation clinic

Berlin, Germany, 2020

ukb rehabilitation clinic sets new standards for integrative rehabilitation

At the beginning of 2021, the new ukb rehabilitation clinic for integrative rehabilitation was able to open its doors and welcome patients after a long planning and construction phase. The clinic unifies various rehabilitation measures in one building, thereby enabling a ground-breaking approach – providing appropriate treatment for all groups under one roof. The enhanced provision means that Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin is now able to provide comprehensive care from acute treatment to conclusive training.

The 135-metre long and 35-metre wide new clinic building is located directly adjacent to Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin. Around 17,000 m² over five floors provide space for 151 beds, therapy and training rooms, cafeterias, lecture halls, lounges and kitchenettes.

The rehabilitation clinic was planned and constructed in line with the concept of so-called “healing architecture”. Clear lines, plenty of natural light, wall and floor designs and a special lighting and acoustic concept are intended to contribute to a pleasant atmosphere and support patients throughout their healing process.

All patient rooms are individual rooms with state-of-the-art equipment. Seating is provided in the form of Brunner’s fina shell chairs and, in selected rooms, the jump xxl heavy-load chair, which are complemented beautifully by the elegant 4less four-legged table.

fina and 4less can also be found in the patient restaurant on the fourth floor. The patient restaurant is also one of the highlights of the new building, with a large roof terrace featuring a view of the TV tower and overlooking the park grounds. The view can be enjoyed in exceptional comfort on crona steel chairs.

In the ground floor cafeteria, visitors can take their seats on crona light sled-base chairs at tables from the 3000 series.

Relaxed occasional breaks are taken care of with A-Bench, A-Lounge and crona lounge – together with break side tables – in areas distributed throughout the building. The selection of materials used also adds splashes of colour.
