Japanese architect Arata Isozaki has won this year's Pritzker Prize, architecture's highest honour. In its published decision, the jury described how Isozaki never follows trends, instead taking his own path with his "fresh" buildings that "defy stylistic categories". It went on to say that Isozaki is a "versatile, influential and truly international architect".

"We are proud to have supplied furniture to one of Arata Isozaki's important buildings. We fulfilled one of the largest contracts in our company's history for his Qatar National Convention Centre project in Doha," says Dr Marc Brunner. The Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) building complex in Qatar's capital features an impressive front with a colossal structure resembling tree trunks and towering branches, which act as supports. The spectacular piece of architecture featuring steel, wood, marble and glass has already been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
Brunner has supplied 11,000 alite stacking chairs which can be linked in rows to the QNCC, which was completed in 2010. A 12-member Brunner design team adapted these to meet the QNCC's specific requirements. In addition, over 2,000 sleight tables round off the conference centre's furnishing.
