The Berlin Congress Center (bcc), with its striking aluminium dome roof, is in the heart of Berlin in Alexanderplatz. The listed reinforced concrete monocoque building is made up of a round interior around which low-rise buildings are spread over two floors and, along with the neighbouring 'Haus des Lehrers', forms an ensemble that is still preserved as one of the few buildings from the era of modern GDR design. The visionary building complex opened in 1964 was designed by Hermann Henselmann, a DDR state architect influenced by the Bauhaus, and is known for its functionality and transparency. The foyer of the domed structure offers an unobstructed view of Berlin's cityscape. After being used for a number of different purposes over the years, the bcc was renovated according to guidelines for listed buildings and thoroughly modernised in the early 2000s. Since then, it has offered space for events with more than 2,000 guests with up to 30 function rooms.

The large domed hall with around 1,000 seats and different lecture and conference rooms needed a new seating and table concept to meet the functional requirements placed on a modern congress centre and fit in aesthetically with the architecture. Brunner impressed in both regards. The range of the Rheinau-based contract furniture specialist already has the perfect chair for large spaces. A folding table specially designed for the project and various special versions left nothing to be desired.

The A-chair was fitted with a glass-fibre reinforced plastic frame in slate grey and a plastic seat shell in pearl white. It was also given a through seat liner with rounded inner edges in red for the large hall and in grey for the smaller conference rooms to ensure a high level of seating comfort. When viewed from behind, the pearl-white seat shells blend seamlessly into the overall look distinguished by the light wooden floor, white walls and cream-coloured ceilings. From the front, the red and grey seat upholstery makes for a wonderful contrast with its surroundings. The A-table was fitted with a slate-grey steel frame and a connecting fitting especially for the bcc. Individually tailored pinholes, transportation trolleys and writing tablets round off the concept that is perfectly tailored to the needs of a modern congress centre.
