Nordport Plaza Hamburg Airport – A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Hamburg,Germany, 2018

A unique design concept, from the foyer to the sky bar

At the Nordport Plaza Hotel at Hamburg Airport, 19 high-quality Brunner ranges and a number of custom-made products contribute to the 60s-style interior design – a time when flying was still pretty special.

Within sight of Hamburg Airport, a four-star-plus hotel was opened in spring 2018 by the name of the Nordport Plaza Hamburg Airport. This new build, completed by Premero Immobilien as the project developer and owner, with its silver-grey glass front consists of a ten-storey main building, which is modelled on an eye with its elliptical shape, and an adjoining four-storey building resembling an eyebrow.

Among other things, the main building houses the foyer with six elegant business lounges designed in wood and leather, a small library, the wellness area with a gym, and 150 of the total 188 rooms and suites. The tenth storey is home to a senator lounge which is transformed into the sky bar in the evenings, offering impressive views: from the airport and the city of Hamburg to the Elbe Philharmonic Hall. The adjoining building houses the other 38 rooms and suites, the restaurant seating 200 and a conference centre. Between the two buildings is a plaza designed as a beer garden.

Inside, the design is characterised by the theme of flying – with a concept based on the design language of the 1960s. For this, the entire hotel – from the foyer and restaurant to the rooms and conference area - has been furnished with 19 high-quality Brunner ranges. A number of custom-made products add to the coordinated overall concept, which sometimes matches tone on tone and sometimes works with interesting contrasts.

Thus, for the crona lounge upholstered furniture in the business lounges, two-tone leather and fabric covers have been combined with delicate sled-base frames. In the foyer, multicoloured plot seating landscapes invite guests to linger. In the restaurant however, the fina club chair, with platinum grey fabric covers, forms a single block of colour with the curtains and flooring. In addition to a number of custom models, Brunner produced special benches which add the perfect finishing touch to the furnishings in the restaurant and bar.
