Alpenruhe Foundation

Saanen, Switzerland, 2020.

Warm materials and colourful highlights create a pleasant atmosphere in the new Alpenruhe.

The Alpenruhe Foundation in Saanen, Switzerland supports, mentors and cares for people with physical, mental or psychiatric disabilities.

After 25 years in the old building, a former golfing hotel built in 1900, it was time for a change in order to meet the standards and structures required today. A three-storey new build was chosen and in September 2020 residents were able to move in. The main building is made up of three offset structures that blend in perfectly with the landscape and create space for a contemporary living and working environment.

The ground floor features a public space with a cafeteria, enabling meetings with visitors to maintain the important connection between residents and the general public into the future. This floor is also home to office spaces, recreational areas and the central kitchen. A total of five differently sized living zones have been created on the first and second floors, each with its own living, dining and kitchen areas.

Warm, natural materials and colourful highlights were selected for the interior of the new Alpenruhe. This achieves a balance between a cosy, comfortable atmosphere and compliance with current legislation, which often accounts for a typical institutional character.

Brunner’s halm stacking chair and colourful models from the crona lounge series help to create a sense of well-being. break, fina club and 4more tables also feature.
