The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture

Frick, Switzerland, 2021.

New research and education campus.

The Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) celebrates its 50th birthday in 2023. It is one of the world's leading research institutes in the field of organic agriculture and has locations in Germany, Austria and France, among other countries. FiBL is involved in numerous international projects, not only in research, consultancy and training but also in development cooperation.

The increasing global demand for organic products and organic farmland has also led to an increase in demand for research and consultancy. The campus has been completely redesigned and refurbished to ensure it is optimally equipped to meet these future requirements.

The new conference building with a large auditorium and organic restaurant is at the heart of it all. Equipped with state-of-the-art communications technology, the "Alvarium" (beehive) was designed by architecture firm FSP and connects training and conference rooms to the new organic restaurant through a large curved staircase. The ceiling lights that appear to float under the ceiling in a honeycomb structure are also inspired by the building's name.

Stunning views of the surrounding meadows and fields can be enjoyed from both the light and airy restaurant on chairs from the halm series or fina bar stools and the terrace with robust outdoor furniture from the crona steel series.
